About the Panim Program
Panim el Panim - Jewish Civics Initiative
The Jewish Civics Initiative Class (JCI) is a unique educational
program teaching 10th, 11th and 12th grade students to apply Jewish
values to public policy and social justice issues. The JCI program
has three major elements: an innovative curriculum based
on Jewish values, a Washington D.C. retreat and community-based
service learning projects.
The Retreat
The 4-day retreat in Washington D.C. includes:
• Learning about public policy
• Exploring Washington D.C.
• Encounter Homelessness Program
• Meeting Congressional Representatives
• Values Activity
• Fully Kosher meals
• U.S. Holocaust Museum
• Capitol Hill
• Jewish Learning Sessions
• U.S.-Israel Relations
• Meeting fellow Jewish teens from across U.S.
