Registration
Welcome to JOLT's 3rd trimester! JOLT participants during the 1st and 2nd trimester enjoyed coming together to socialize, nosh and learn. It is our hope that you will make Judaism an integral part of your high school experience by participating in our hands-on, interactive, thought-provoking classes whether you are a new or returning student.
Join JOLT for the next eight weeks and enjoy Thursday evenings with us.

JOLT consists of three eight-week trimesters. Participants select either one or two courses for one, two or all ;three trimesters which will provide teens ownership of their Jewish educaton.
Courses have been designed to inspire Jewish exploration and cultural and experiential learning with thought-provoking topics.

Holiday Happenings
We will focus on Tu B'Shevat, Purim, Pesach and Shavuot while making delectable holiday treats. Learn about kashrut while gaining insight into these winter and spring holidays. Class size is limited!

Jammin' at JOLT
Have you ever dreamed aboaut leading or participating with a group in song? If so, this is the course for you! We will sing old and new camp songs as well as explore the eclectic world of Jewish music. No instruments necessary, but if you play one, bring it along.

Jews “R” News
A lot is happening in the world. Join us as we use a Jewish lens to analyze current and recent news. Learn how to seek out a balance of news stories and how articles reflect the politics of the writers.

OMG!
Have you ever thought about what it might feel like to be in God's presence? How would you complete the sentence: "In my opinion, God is like a..."? Where do you believe God was on 9/11? The heart of this class will be thought-provoking journaling prompted by questions like these from The God Book: A Necessarily Incomplete Guide to the Essence of God. The answers you write and those offered by historical Jewish thinkers promise deep and challenging dialogue!

A Little Bit of This...A Little Bit of That
Gain insights into a variety of Jewish text through dynamic discussions! Together we will set the agenda in discovering the vast lessons in the weekly Torah portion, Pirkei Avot, Talmud and Midrash.

Brushing Up Your Hebrew
Develop conversational Hebrew skills and build a vocabulary of proactical workds that can be used for a visit to ISrael. This class is ideal for students who wish to be prepared for a trip to Israel or who simply want to practrice previous knowledge ofthe Hebrew language.

Israel through Cinema & the Arts
JOLT participants have the unique opportunity to participate in an international pilot program exploring films and the multimedia arts through an educational portal. The films and interactive activities explore the diversityof Israeli society. This curriculum, Omanoot, has been developed by a native St. Louisan who made aliyah to Israel.

Sex and Death in the Garden
Come explore the Rabbis' take on Adam and Eve. We will look at the creation of human beings, women, temptation, sex, death and punishment in the Garden. This is not the version you learned in Sunday School when you were young.

Dinner Available each Thursday:
- 6 - 6:30 p.m. (before first-hour class)
- Meals include salad + entree from Simon Kohn’s (pizza, pasta, sandwich, etc.)
- $50 per trimester
- Drink and dessert provided at no cost

This is an option for teens who may be coming from another activity or who want to come early and socialize with friends. Choose on a trimester basis (at time of registration).

Attendance: Regular attendance is a necessity for achievement in any class. Students are expected to attend class regularly. If you will be absent, please call the director at (314) 442-3757 or email mweil@cajestl.org.
With only 8 weeks per trimester and an action-packed curriculum, students are encouraged to arrive on time and return to class on time after the break.
Emergency and Weather Related Closing: In the event of snow or other extreme weather conditions, JOLT will follow the procedure of the
Parkway School District. If Parkway schools are closed, JOLT will be closed. A decision about weather related closing will be made by 2 p.m. on scheduled class days and information will be posted on this website and on the CAJE Emergency and Weather Related
Information Phone Line at (314) 442–3775.
Driving: Students who drive to JOLT are expected to drive directly to B’nai Amoona and remain there until the end of the evening at 8:30 pm. The JOLT faculty does not patrol the roadways or the parking lot. We rely on trust and communication between students, parents and faculty for the successful
implementation of this policy. Students are expected to use common sense, obey the law and maintain the trust given them by their parents and the faculty.
Changing Classes: Students may transfer classes with the approval of the JOLT Director.
Guests: Guests of students are permitted to attend a class, subject to prior arrangements with the JOLT Director.

Tuition (per trimester): $125
Check with your synagogue to see if tuition is covered by the synagogue.
Dinner Option (per trimester): $50 
- Includes entrée from Simon Kohn’s (pizza, pasta, sandwich, etc.)
- Drink and dessert provided.
- Amount due for 8 dinners (one per JOLT session) must be paid in advance.
Material Fee: $18
Holiday Happenings and OMG! classes require a material fee for supplies needed.
