Over 400 children and their families joined us at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium in Forest Park to learn about Havdalah by experiencing activity booths and a star show.
Our sages taught that Shabbat ends when three stars can be counted in the evening sky.
Even if the night is cloudy, the stars at the Planetarium will shine brightly.
Havdalah separates Shabbat from the work week, the holy from the mundane. Under twinkling stars and glowing planets, families will participate in Havdalah and enjoy related activities.
Ellyn Polsky lights a Havdalah candle at our Community Havdalah Service.

A Jewish Perspective of
the 1904 World's Fair
Missouri History Museum
250 years after the
first Jews settled on American soil, the 1904 World's Fair
thrust St. Louis into the global spotlight. Were your relatives
among the 20 million men, women and children who strolled
the Pike, tasted their first ice cream cone, and caught
an early glimpse of the flag that would later represent
the new State of Israel?
