Adults
The Adult Department of the Central Agency for
Jewish Education was designed with a commitment to Jewish studies
and to the St. Louis Jewish community.
We are committed to:
- Education across denominational lines with an inclusive, yet
pluralistic ideology.
- Serving the Jewish educational needs of the entire adult community.
- Providing a variety of courses based on student request.
- The use of Jewish texts as the tool in guiding us in providing
the education.
- Hearing your voice in the course of the classroom discussions.
- We welcome all adults who would like to study with their peers
in a pluralistic user-friendly, intellectually stimulating atmosphere.
The course topics range from Talmud, Bible, and Jewish Literature
and history to Yiddish, Biblical Hebrew and Conversational Hebrew.
Our focal point is the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School where adults
study text-based curricula provided by the Hebrew University.

Note to Religious School and Hebrew School Teachers
If you are working toward teacher certification with the Teacher Certification Program (TCP), you’ll find that Melton and CAJL courses satisfy many of the requirements. Please note that most Adult Education Courses will have TCP notations as part of the course description. Graduation from the Melton program satisfies all Level 1 and Level 2 Judaic requirements. |
