Sichot Kodesh: Conversations with the Rabbis
St. Louis is fortunate to have such an outstanding and diverse group of talented rabbis in our community. This year, in place of the annual fall “Rabbi Robert P. Jacobs Adult Institute of Jewish Studies”, the community will have the opportunity to learn, talk and
interact with a myriad of rabbis throughout the year. Sichot Kodesh means “holy conversations” and whether the topic be related to
a Jewish holiday, Jewish ethics, or contemporary issues facing the community, you will definitely come away inspired and enriched. Each month three rabbis will give their unique perspectives on a similar topic.

The Book of Tobit: Judaism's Wildest Fairy Tale?
Among the books of the Aprocrypha is the Story of Tobit. The story combines Jewish piety and morality with oriental forlklore. Prayers, psalms, and words of wisdon=m, as well as the skillfully constructed story itself, provide valuable insights into the faith and the religious milieu of its unknown author. Aramaic and Hebrew fragments of the Book of Tobit were discovered in Cav IV at Qumran in 1952. Fiction or Fantasy? Tobit might just be Judaism's wildest fairy tale. Course taught by Dr. Naomi Jacobs.
