Do not say: "When I shall have leisure I shall study, for you may never have leisure."
Avot 2:5

Come join our dear friends, Rabbi and Esther Zimand
for 2 Extraordinary Learning Events

Rabbi Ephraim Zimand

Sunday Evening, August 22
6-10 p.m.
Jewish Federation Kopolow Building
12 Millstone Campus Drive
Cost: $15

The Beruriah Incident

Rabbi Zimand will lead a discussion of a curious text which ends with a reference to an incident involving Beruriah, wife of Rabbi Meir. This incident is found nowhere in the Talmud yet it is explained by Rashi without reference to its source. Following text study, we will view portions of the Israeli film Beruriah. Our study will end with a comparison of the movie’s interpretation and with Rashi’s interpretation.

Rabbi Zimand is dedicating this evening of learning in honor of
Bernard “Berel” Sirkin, of blessed memory, and his wife Gloria Sirkin.

How does the world and especially the American Jewish community view Israel? Esther will explore a variety of answers to these questions and more.

In the second hour Aura Kavadlo, Food Educator, will lead a practical exploration of how to bring mindfulness into our everyday with tips for “un-processing” the food we put in our body, with an emphasis on technique, “take away tips,” and great “tastes.”
